Welcome to December - the year has gone by incredibly fast. Over the past 11 months, month by month, we've shared style inspirations, designer spotlights, community events and initiatives, industry and business updates. As we prepare to close out 2024, we’re dedicating this newsletter to doing what we do best—spotlighting African designers. With so much talent this year, choosing wasn’t an easy task, but we’re thrilled to share Umoja linn’s top 5 African fashion designers for 2024.

5. IFEANYI

Clean, minimalist, and undeniably sophisticated—these are the words that spring to mind when you encounter a piece by Ifeanyi. Focused on empowering self-expression through fashion, Anike Ologe aims to make every woman feel like the most beautiful version of herself. Through Umoja linn, we witnessed countless testimonials that brought this vision to life.

3. EMERALD & WAX

Emerald & Wax, a brand inspired by a deep passion for Ghanain wax prints and patterns wowed us this year with their striking collection of jackets and kimonos. A standout moment came this summer when the brand was selected for CREATE 2024, a prestigious showcase by Brown Thomas -an applaudable milestone brought by hard work!

2. MAYE TOBS

Maye Tobs has been known for blending modern sophistication with traditional African aesthetics. In 2024, the brand continued to shine, delivering bold, statement-making designs that celebrate heritage while embracing contemporary style. The brand’s creations graced numerous events and wardrobes, and became a go-to for for futuristic individuals, and overall received an outpour of love and fantastic quality reviews.

1. ZAYOMA

Zayoma has long been known for their use of vibrant fabrics and impeccable beading technique. In 2024, the brand continued to captivate with designs that exude confidence and sophistication, making it a favourite for many individuals. Their all round perfect execution in design, product and experience quality made them truly stand out this year.
